A few months back I was invited by Ruth Wiersma, who teaches 2nd and 3rd grade Sunday School, to come for a visit. Glenn Tott, who assists in this class, was writing on the white board, “God promises to hear us, help us, and always be with us.” After a class discussion, the students began to work on their individual Scripture jars. The students glued this verse to their glass jars, “Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. -Matthew 11:28.” The promise Scriptures were written on popsicle sticks and each student had to insert the missing word.

Shields Lorenzetti shared 1 John 5:14, “If we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.” He explained that, “If we ask God or Jesus anything He will help us.” Libby Overton shared 1Peter 5:7, “Cast all anxiety on Him because He cares for you.” She explained that, “If people have troubles they can talk to Jesus and He will help them feel good.” After the students were done, they put their sticks in their jars to take home and use.

I was also invited by Rachael Adams to visit the PreK-1st grade Sunday School class, where Beth Liebling and Barb Lacy were showing me the students fishing for men. Each fish had a picture of one of the disciples. Thomas Lancaster and Brighton Stewart demonstrated how Jesus answers our prayers by blowing their ping pong ball down a path to Jesus. The students were actively learning about Jesus and making meaningful connections.

Thank you Sunday School teachers for all you do to share the Word of God with our students!
