In every community there are children and families at a point of crisis, and they need some help. In those same communities, there are Christian people who care and want to take action and show Christ-like compassion to others. CarePortal is an online platform that connects vulnerable children to churches who are willing and able to give. Social workers uncover the needs, and then CarePortal makes local Christian churches aware, giving them a real-time opportunity to respond. We (GEPC) have been part of the CarePortal network for the past several years, and we have helped many families. If you would like to learn more about this Outreach ministry that provides tangible, physical help to families/children in need, come to the upcoming special session that will be held in the Fellowship Hall on Sunday, 20 September at 9:45am (during the Sunday School hour). Also during that upcoming special session in the Fellowship Hall on Sunday, 20 September at 9:45am (during the Sunday School hour), Josiah Durfee will be teaching us about an exciting new ministry initiative called “We Will Tell.” Now, please do not be confused. CarePortal and “We Will Tell” are not tied together. These are separate ministry initiatives.
Congregational Meeting - September 20th
Join us on September 20th for a congregational meeting! We will meet in the ministry center at approximately 12:30pm.
The purpose of this meeting is threefold:
1) Elect our nominating team for our annual elder/deacon nominating process;
2) Approve Session's recommendation to change Josh's Lee Terms of Call from Assistant Pastor of Community to Associate Pastor of Community;
3) Discuss denominational updates and feedback.
The proposed slate for the nominating team is as follows: Justin Ewing (Chair & Elder Representative); Ethan Funk (Elder Representative); Carl Carney (Deacon Representative); Andrea Quinn (Deacon Representative); Holly Marshall (Congregational Representative); Linda Reeves (Congregational Representative); Angela Langford (Congregational Representative); Michael Morefield (Pastor).
Coordinating Team will provide the exact details of Josh's terms of call as soon as possible. We will notify the congregation when it will be available for review in the church office.
We will discuss the most recent congregational letter that was sent out in greater detail and have a time for questions and answers on the latest denominational updates.
All women of Gashland are invited to attend an Around the Table gathering in October. The goal of Around the Table is for our women to meet in groups of 6 to get to know each other better over a brunch, lunch, or dinner meal that will include fellowship and Christian conversation. Sign up sheets will be in the lobby and outside the Ministry Center beginning today, September 20th and again on September 27th. Around the Table for October
Mother-Son Superhero Adventure has been RESCHEDULED!
Due to many scheduling conflicts with the original date, our Mother-Son Superhero Adventure will be on Saturday, November 14 from 1:00 – 3:00pm in the Worship Center. This is for boys ages 4 through 5th grade and their mom, grandma, aunt or any other special mother-like figure! The cost will be $15 per family and $5 for each additional adult. We hope you can join us for an afternoon of fun activities, creativity and fellowship! If you have a grandson or nephew who doesn’t attend Gashland we’d still love to have you join us! Parkville Women's Clinic (Pregnancy Care Center) invites you to join us for The Silent Thread, a one-hour community event exploring 2,000 years of history and the longstanding Christian conviction to value and protect unborn life. Presented by Sam Elliott, The Silent Thread will trace this history from the early Christian church and ancient Rome through the development of protections for unborn children and into the legal and cultural conversations happening today. This is not a fundraising event, there will be no financial ask. Our goal is simply to provide an educational opportunity for people in our community to consider the role each of us can play in continuing to build a culture that values life. The Silent Thread - A Free Community Educational Event
Eleos Ministries is celebrating 15 yers of minsitry by hosting a Worship Night Fundraiser on October 3rd at The Gathering Baptist Church (4505 South Noland Road, Independence, MO 64055). You can expect powerful worship, amazing testimonies, desserts and coffee, and an opportunity to invest in their future ministry. The event starts at 6:30 pm and will end at 8:30 pm.
Worship Night Fundraiser for Eleos Ministries
Join us Wednesdays at 6:00 pm for a meal (suggested donation $5/person; $15/max per family) and discipleship for every age at 6:30 pm.
Children's Ministries will be available: Little Lambs ( ages 0-3); KidsQuest (ages 4 - 5th grade); Student Ministries (grades 6th - 12th). Adult Discipleship Groups and a group for guests will also be available.

Calling all men of Gashland to attend the Stand Firm Conference with Pastor Joby Martin. Over two days, we will be challenged to stand up with courage, stand apart in purity, and stand firm in faith - anchored in the truth of God's Word. The event will take place on Friday, October 30th (5-9PM) and Saturday, October 31 (7AM - 2PM) at Abundant Life Church in Lee's Summit, MO. The cost is $40 and it covers two catered meals, breakfast and lunch on Saturday. Registration after Oct. 18 allows entry but no access to catered meals. Register at: www.abundant-life.com/standfirm.
