We're so glad you are here. We know finding a church home can be difficult. It is our desire to help make that easier! Below you can read more about our church, what we believe, when we worship, and what you can expect on a Sunday morning for worship.
“It is our vision to be a church that loves Jesus, lives as family, and looks to the fields."
Gashland EPC
What is the greatest Commandment?
Deuteronomy 6:4 “Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one. 5 You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.
At Gashland it our desire to not merely love Jesus, but fall deeper in love with Him every day. Jesus is our greatest love in life and we want to spend our days living for Him. It is this love that guides everything we do as a church and as an individual. Paul beautifully describes this in 2 Corinthians 5:14-15:
"14 For the love of Christ controls us, because we have concluded this: that one has died for all, therefore all have died; 15 and he died for all, that those who live might no longer live for themselves but for him who for their sake died and was raised."
We are family in Christ. Members of the household of God (Ephesians 2:19). That means something. Those are not empty words for us. We have a bond that is greater and longer lasting than blood. A bond that is forged in our Savior Jesus Christ. It is our desire to not merely know each other's names, but that we would know each other's lives.
What does that look like like? We seek to live and grow as a spiritual family through three core ways: Discipleship, Community, and Care. Things that we see were present and alive in the early church (Acts 2).
Our vision, "Look to the fields," draws inspiration from John 4:35, where Jesus urges us to lift our eyes and behold a world ripe for harvest. At Gashland we want to be and become those who joyfully share their faith, participate in the great commission and see the lost come to know Jesus as their Lord and savior.
Our 8:30am service is a reformed tapestry of treasured hymns sung by the congregation and accompanied by the rich tones of piano and organ. A dedicated choir enriches the worship with stirring anthems. Occasionally, a hand bell choir beautifully aids our worship with its joyful ringing. The music fits into a structured, meaningful worship order that reflects our Reformed beliefs and theology.
8:30am Music
The music in our 11:00am contemporary service is led by a praise team with guitar, drums, keyboard, bass guitar and more. You'll hear a mix of modern hymns and songs that are rich with theology and designed to lead the congregation in worship, adoration, and praise of our Lord and King. The music fits into a structured, meaningful worship order that reflects our Reformed beliefs and theology.
At Gashland EPC it is our desire to passionately preach Christ-centered expository sermons that faithfully unpack the meaning of Scripture. These sermons focus on explaining the Bible verse by verse, revealing how every passage points to Jesus and His gospel. The goal is to deepen faith and understanding by connecting God’s Word directly to life with clarity and conviction.
Christ Centered Preaching
11:00am Music
People come to our church dressed in anything from shorts and a t-shirt to a suit and tie. Please come however you feel most comfortable.
During the 8:30am service, we have our Little Lambs Ministry (Ages 0-3) available. We also have sermon search (a tool to help kids follow along with the sermon) for kids staying in the service.
From 9:45am-10:45am we have Sunday School for all ages of kids (Little Lambs, Children Ministries, Middle School Ministries, and High School Ministries).
During the 11:00am service we have a Mother's Room available in the back of the Ministry Center for nursing mothers where they can watch a live feed of the service as they care for their little ones. We also have Little Lambs available (ages 0-3). Right before the sermon, kids ages 4-1st Grade, are dismissed for children's church. Ages 2nd grade on up are encouraged to follow along with the sermon through Sermon Search! And we always like to remind families that kids of any age are welcome to stay in the service. We love families at Gashland EPC!
Our services are about 1 hour and 15 minutes. During this time we sing, pray, listen to God's Word being preached. We believe in Christ-Centered expository preaching. This means we preach verse by verse through a particular book in the Bible revealing how every passage points to Jesus. We celebrate Communion on the first Sunday of every month, and all who profess Jesus as Lord and Savior are welcome to take part (gluten free bread is available).
For 1st service the best place is to park in the main parking lot on the backside of the church. Look for the red doors and a friendly greeter! When you walk inside, we have a Welcome Center in the Upstairs Lobby and would love to meet you and show you where to go when you arrive! Please note the 8:30am Traditional Service is held upstairs in the Sanctuary while our 11:00am service is held downstairs in our Ministry Center. For our 11:00am Contemporary Service, the closest place to park is our South Parking Lot (with the outdoor basketball hoops). Look for the red doors and you are there! Find us at the Welcome Table in the downstairs lobby and we would love to meet you and show you where to go.
If you have a Bible, we encourage you to bring it to follow along with the sermon. But if you don't have a Bible, that is not a problem! In our 8:30am service we have pew bibles that you can use. In our 11:00am service we put the scripture passage up on the screen for everyone to see. Also, if you don't have a Bible but would like one, let us know when you are there and we would love to gift you one!
We know walking into a new church can be a little intimating or overwhelming at times. We would love to meet you at our Welcome Center to get to know you better and make your first visit as smooth as possible! It would be our joy to show you where our worship service is held and answer any questions that you might have. If you are interested, we can give you a tour of the building, show you where our Sunday School Classes take place, and if you have any kids we can also assist in showing you where those are located. We are excited to see you Sunday!
Below you can let us know you are coming so we can be prepared to meet you!
