Description: Corinth was a modern and proud city in ancient Greece, and thoroughly pagan. Christians there were tempted to conform to a seductive culture of pleasing the flesh and consumerism, in addition to sin’s continuing deceitfulness still in the lives of believers. Sound familiar? Paul instructs his readers how the gospel must shape their lifestyle in the church and in their culture. What does it mean to be truly spiritual in a sometimes hostile environment? How should knowledge of the truth inform our behavior? And how do we live lives characterized by both truth and love? Please join us as we study this valuable epistle that speaks so clearly to our own time.

The Gospel of Mark plays a unique and strategic role in the Christian Bible. In this account of the life, death, and resurrection of Christ, we see him fulfilling in himself the Old Testament hopes for a coming king, the Messiah, yet we also see the stark ways in which Jesus confounds public expectations of what this king will do: he will suffer. Mark’s Gospel also gives us a vivid portrayal of what authentic discipleship looks like for those who follow a rejected king. Of the four Gospels, Mark was probably the first one written. Mark’s Gospel is concerned with presenting Jesus as the Messiah, the king, the Son of David, who is rejected by the religious authorities and calls his followers to radical discipleship in the kingdom of God.

Description:  The Abide Sunday School is for youngish adults and adults with young families. Its design and purpose is to help us abide with one another (grow in community, encourage one another, share life) and abide in Jesus. We are currently studying the gospel of Matthew. Coffee and pastries will be present! Our structure on Sunday mornings is to have light teaching, discussion, prayer, and then a time for us to connect, fellowship, and share life.

Sunday School Classes

Description:  Marriage is one of God’s primary tools for our growth in holiness. Join us this spring for a Marriage Sunday School class led by Pastor Josh. This class is not for those who think they have it all together, but for those who are trusting God to shape them—whether in marriage now or in preparation for marriage. Our marriages are meant to display Christ’s love for His bride, the Church (Eph. 5:31–32). The heart of this class is to see marriages nourished, strengthened, and rooted in the gospel for the glory of God. We’ll walk together through the video and book series What Did You Expect? by Dr. Paul David Tripp. Each week will include a video session followed by guided discussion. Copies of the book will be available for purchase.
